3 Ways To Screenshot On Windows 10

How To Screenshot on Windows 10

A screenshot is an image of your screen captured to be sent or used in an application. It basically captures the contents of your screen at the time.

So the most important key on your keyboard any time you think about screenshots, is the Print Screen Key. It’s on every keyboard with the PrtSc abbreviation on it, usually after the F12 key. It’s right there, you can’t miss it.

Take and Save a Screenshot in windows 10

To take and Save a Screenshot, press the Windows Key plus the PrtScr keys once, simultaneously. You’ll see a slight dimming animation and that’s it. You’ll find your screenshot in the default pictures folder inside an automatically generated folder called screenshots.

Every screenshot you take this way will be saved in that folder with a new number.

This also works for tablets running Windows 10. All you gotta do is press the Windows button + the volume down button to save a screenshot of your screen in the Pictures folder.

Just Take Screenshot Without Saving

But if you want to take a screenshot and edit it, or even use it without saving it on the computer, you can. Just press the PrtSc key once. You’ll think nothing has happened but the screenshot has been saved to your clip board and is waiting for you to paste it somewhere. So open your Word document, Google docs, Paint or your favorite image editing software and paste!

If you use paint, just open the app, the click on Edit and Paste, and the screenshot will now be available for you to use.

Screenshot a Specific window

Click on the title bar of that window, the press Alt + PRtSc Once again the screenshot is saved to your clipboard for you to paste it wherever you want.

Screenshot a Custom Area:

You can also custom select the exact area that you want a screenshot of. This one doesn’t make use of the PrtScr button.

So to take a screenshot of a specific area, maybe you want a window like this with a little bit of desktop, just press Windows + Shift + S Then the whole screen will grey out and now with your mouse left button, select the area you want a screenshot of.

That screenshot will be saved to your clipboard for you to paste in your favorite image editor or document.
