Finally, Instagram has dark mode. The long overdue feature we’ve been asking for is finally available, but of course in classic Instagram style, it comes with a twist!
So you’d think Instagram’s new dark mode feature has a switch somewhere in the Instagram settings but you couldn’t be more wrong.
Dark mode on Instagram works with your operating system’s dark mode. Which means you need to have the latest version of iOS …...iOS 13 or the latest version of Android, Android 10.
So in this case I have an iPhone, it’s running iOS 13, I’ll just turn on dark mode. And when I go to IG, it’s going to be in dark mode.
I have to say, it looks really clean, especially if you have an oled display.
If you turn off dark mode in iOS 13, dark mode on Instagram disappears. The same goes for Android devices running android 10.
I’m pretty sure I’ll keep mine on all the time just because of how awesome dark mode looks on Instagram. It just makes everything pop more and look extra vibrant. It’s also great to scroll through your timeline in the dark.
The only frustrating thing about this dark mode is how Instagram decided to tie it to the OS. I just think they could have easily built the feature right into the app itself.
